SocioTalks
A Hybrid Course of Conversation Skills

Talking about Yourself 1
To the teacher:
- As a warm-up, start the session with a question like this:
- May I ask you to introduce yourself?
- Prompt your student(s), where necessary, to produce correct sentences. i.e. provide them with proper vocabulary or structures.
- For each pattern, help them with the necessary grammar but avoid over-correction.
- Ask them to repeat any of the structures/sentences one by one, with data about themselves.
- Prevent them from speaking Farsi as long as possible.
Introduce Yourself
- My name is …. / I’m a history teacher.
- I’m an accountant at Pars Hesab company.
- I am an accountant at a car renting company. I do the audition.
- Right now I’m unemployed. I’m looking for a new job.
- I’m between jobs these days.
- I like my job very much, especially because the workplace is great, but I’m not well-paid.
- What I like the most about my job is that I learn many things every day since I meet new people regularly.
- My main responsibility at work is checking the quality of products.
- I dream of one day working for Microsoft or Google as a developer.
- With any luck, I would be running my own restaurant in downtown Tehran next year.
